Whenever I load my version of Quake 3, it says : Couldn't load default.cfg. Yet, when I go and search for it in that drive, it's not even frikken there! This is unshibby and I need a soulution fast, it didn't do this before a couple of days ago. I think I'm screwed so please help me

in your quake3\baseq3 folder you should have at least this file:

q3config.cfg

This is your default.cfg if Quake 3 can find nothing else. Make sure that this one is there. If it's not you can simply copy it from the same folder on the CD of Quake 3. But if you copy it from the cd make sure that your remove the read only attribute on it.

If after all this, Quake 3 doesn't work just réinstall it on top of your current installation.

If I reinstall it runs once and then I get the same results if I try to play again

Have you tried making the default.cfg read-only?

You shouldn't put it in read only, 'cauz if you try to change a settings in Quake 3. you can't because that's where the game save all the settings and if you put it in read only you can't change any settings.

Rikster: As I can read, you're trying to load Team Arena Demo? I would reinstall it in your case. But do you have the full version of Quake 3 Arena installed or inly the demo?

Yes I have the full version, and have since put in the cd code but I still get the same results...it'll play great once and then the next time I launch Q3 it says it can't find the default.cfg

create a blank text file called default.cfg
and put it in your /baseq3/ folder.

that will remove the error.
