Then I got this 400GB WD drive I pulled from a computer I serviced. The owner bought a new drive, so I checked the warranty on the drive and it was still good. Sending it out today and when it comes back, its going in as a storage drive. Later on, I'll buy another, throw it into a RAID-1 and I'll never worry about my data again. Its exciting times, I've waited a long time for this. [ 11-06-2007: Message edited by: GFKiller ]

What's it like to be able to buy a new computer?Hell, what's it like to have a job that pays enough to allow you to buy a new computer? Can I have some money? -------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.

Acid: The old PC is still kicking, however since my parents actually use the computer a lot now and I find myself with little free time, I'd live to have a computer available for whenever I want to use the damn thing. Do I get to play games a lot still? No. However, when I do get a chance I want to be able to play the games I want to play. Got an Xbox 360 in the house that someone gave me with 2 games, Madden and GoW.Caco: I just got the processor in, I haven't checked what stepping I got yet. I'll let you know when I take it out of the package. I missed the deal for the free copy of Quake Wars (really don't care, I played the demo and the game officially sucks, I was very dissapointed. The whole idea behind the game was a dream and they just failed miserably). I am definetely going with Vista x64. I said to myself years ago, the next system I build will be a 64-bit system, regardless as to where the industry currently is in supporting it. AcidWarp: It's pretty damn awesome. Especially since for the past two years, I dug myself out of a 15k hole I put myself into with having fun with a credit card. Don't you love how you're close to maxing the card and they raise the limit by a thousand, digging yourself deeper? Yeah, so I lived with two years of completely misery and no money or nothing. Scrapping every bit of the way. This is the first thing I bought myself that I'll actually enjoy (instead of giving money to family members for weddings or paying to fix the car, etc...) I've suffer, I've risen, and now I'll enjoy. And, as for giving you money... Dude, did you just see how much I spent. All joking aside, keep your head up AW, it eventually does get better.

What really sucks is the 8800GT 512MB card (which is cheaper and faster) came out right after I bought my 8800GTS 320 MB card. I hate the way they named them. 8800GTS fast 8800GT faster 8800GTX fastest [ 11-20-2007: Message edited by: Cacophonous ] -------------------- ...

From Tom's Hardware:Santa Clara (CA) : Intel has informed its customers that the Core 2 Quad Q6600 desktop quad-core processor as well as the Xeon X3220 and X3210 server quad-core CPUs have been transitioned to a new stepping, which will allow customers to integrate the processors in computer systems using lower power flexible motherboards (FMB). According to a product change notification released on Friday, the three processors were transitioned from the B-3 to the G-0 processor stepping and can now run not only on 105 watt performance FMBs, but on 95 watt mainstream FMBs as well. The new CPUs, which can be identified by the CPUID "06FB" (B-3 processors were labeled "06F7"), also increase the Tcase, a value that describes the maximum temperature a CPU can sustain, by 11 degrees Celsius. According to Intel, this change will allow system builders to scale back cooling requirements and achieve lower system noise levels overall. -------------------- ...
