I accidentally set iTunes to manage the folder/filenames of my music collection...

If there were a fainting emotion, multiply it by 1000.

Anyone know of a good program to reorganize the filenames/foldernames of my My Music Tree by ID3 tags?

Actually, I kinda do know what he's talking about. I used ID3-TagIT a while ago. I forget how well it worked though.

I spent the last few months re-tagging all my mp3 files with Music Match Jukebox.

All my ID3 tags are intact, so I'm not worrying too much about that. I'm going to download this program anyways to try it out.

Let me further clarify my situation. I set iTunes to handle naming and organizing the actually files in My Music. I had a kick ass way of organizing things:

1. Genre
2. Artist
3. Album

Then the file names would have this format:

(track number with leading 0)(Artist) - (Track Name).mp3

If I can find a program that will read the ID3 tag information of a music file, the rename the actual file to the parameters I originally had (or whatever custom parameters I set), that would be completely kick ass. That way, I wouldn't have to manually go through every file and rename them to the way I had them.

Music Match does that, Gfella.

I just changed my format the other day from track no.< artist
to
Artist< track no.

It took about 20 minutes to update ~5000 tracks.

With Music Match I can sort my playlist by whatever I want, regardless of how I name the files.

What, you mean how its a ghastly memory hog?

Yeah I know, hence why I removed it.

Only reason I had it in the first place was because it was the originally software that worked with iPod's for Windows. When they finally released iTunes, I had no need for it (but of course, then iTunes fucked me .
