I am selling my laptop and am looking to replace my business system with a gaming unit. Where do I start? Also will any 19" monitor do? I want it to be affordable yet powerful.

Any help appreciated, gaming is once again calling me, how about you?

From what I've read, Intel's new CPUs are blowing AMD's away. I have an Opteron 165 w/2gb ram and apparently thats shit now (its stock speed though as well). The Intel chipsets (according to SiSoft) are like, a billion light years better than my shit.

amd still rules the budget market, though.

honestly, processors are getting so ridiculously powerful that either brand will do. i'd rather buy a lesser processor and spring for a high-end graphics card than vice versa.

monitors are cheap. you can get a 22" 5ms widescreen for like $400. 300 on a good day.

Priced out fairly, no inclusion of a CD or DVD ROM (I'm sure you have those). This thing has serious potential for some kick ass overclocking if you choose. Quite the steal too. Only thing I skimped out on (for sake of a better video card) was the RAM. Not only is it 1GB instead of 2, but its only DDR2 667 (when the motherboard actually supports up to DDR2 800). The Intel chips are amazing and you'd be a fool not to buy it and opting to save a buck on AMD's obsolete offering. Plus, I dont know if that 1k target price include/not include the LCD. But being only $100 over 1k with the monitor ain't bad. As always, no tax or s/h has been calculated in this total.

Very nice G!

I found this cool link with two choices, either overclocking for $650 or buying the best for $1500
http://www.techspot.com/article/25-affordable-am2-gaming-system/

Nicely marketed little review there eh?

I will print out your system components, thanks!!

NP man, just make sure to tell us all how sweet it is.

I can't wait to get money together to buy a new Core 2. Those chips are just absolutely amazing. AND Intel just changed the whole line over to 45nm, so expect to see more Quad Core choices available in the beginning of 2007.
