Last news I heard, 4 cops were dead. A friend of mine from school (known him since I was 12) is an RCMP ion Mayerthorpe. I am just sick...

I pray for his family right now too...as his father is a pastor in our congregation (and my Uncle is the other) so when I called my aunt, she started crying.

This is not good.

My heartfelt condolences go out to you, Snag.

Nothing much more to say, I guess.

Thanks guys. And you're right Ser....nothing more anyone can say. Pete's dad went to Mayerthorpe today to counsel other parents and loved ones. He kicked into Pastoral mode and went at it. What a guy *sniff*. He says he strangely feels absolutely no animosity towards his sons murderer, for he knows his son is walking with the lord and the psycho is burning with the devil. He hurts, but he is at peace.

While I still say people should be allowed to own guns, I do not believe society in general can be effectively protected while people are allowed to gun down 4 police officers in cold blood and only 1 of them have time to reach for his pistol (but not have enough time to get a shot off) with a weapon like THIS

But then, the only people who need those guns are the whack jobs who think they have to protect themselves from something...and that something is usually the law because they are criminals anyway.

One of the rookie cops was a highschool party buddy. He went out with a girlfriend of mine for quite awhile. It certainly was sad news. There's going to have to be a big investigation on this one. There are still so many questions.

Well, my uncle appeared on the news talking about Peter and his dad...I was JUST leaving my house when they made public the names. 30 seconds later I passed the parents house and there was already a camera crew setting up across the street.

He was a good man. Last time we got together we were all having some wings and beer (right before Christmas) and having a laugh. That seems so long ago and just like yesterday all at the same time.

It is still just so surreal. Going to be a large funeral. They are telecasting the funeral into our old high school cause of the two gymnasiums. Full regimental funeral.

Saw Pete yesterday at the viewing...it was so hard seeing him laying there. This is a true testimony to the quality of people his family are...and the media is trying to get to them.

They harbour no ill will to the killer. They have maintained integrity throughout this whole thing. Then the media suggests that Peter was not wearing his armour or his sidearm. Excuse me, when was the last fucking time you ever saw a mounty without those 2 items? Going from tragic, to under-trained to incompetant...I THINK NOT.

Pete was a good cop...and I wish the media would fuck off.

The Canadian media is acting like American Media. They have been hanging around Broch's parents house here in Red Deer. The family already made a statement, but they hang around looking for more things to fabricate.

Sorry for the loss man.

Feel bad for replying to this considering the topic.. by Broch was a name I selected after seeing a porn. Didn't know it was a popular canadian name.

I always thought it was Brock anyway.

Thanx Max et all. Well, now the media changed their tune about him not being armed...seems they neglected to say he was off duty and simply dropping another officer off at the site. Took the mayor of Mayerthorpe to bring that to the public.

Was a nice service...amazing how many mounties there were. I would say there were at least 500 Mounties. Cops from all over the place...even Cleveland. 11 Greyhounds were donated to transport people to the cemetary.

And I got to see Grandpa. Nice to see Peter and Grandpa have good neighbors. They have each other *sniff* Peter was laid to rest at the foot of my Grandpa's grave.
