One GOOD thing about this war on Iraq is that it opened up my eyes to just how little I know about what the fuck has been going on over the last 100 or so years. I never even knew of death camps in Croatia during WWII for example. I have no idea what really went on in Chechnya. Can anyone recommend a good book that covers each of the prominent wars of the 20th century? I understand that a volume of books would be required to do each justice but, for now, I just want to learn who was fighting who, why, etc.

When I was in Hawaii I got into WWII, well the War in the Pacific and I read a (yup, just one) book about the battles around the Pacific Rim (steady!!, it's not a porno!) and it was very interesting and easy to read.
