create a shortcut with the following:

"c:/program files/quake III arena/quake3.exe +set fs_game smash". Set the path to wherever you have Q3 installed. I 'think' the quotes go around the whole thing, if that doesn't work, just put them around the quake3.exe (including the complete path).

I think.

ya, do what he said, then go to the new shortcut and right click and choose properties, the
then put this in where it says "target"

"C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe" - +set fs_game smash

Copy and paste that if you want if yours is on C: drive/program files, if it's not, just change the file path accordingly

Piece of cake.... listen....

Just load the game up like normal,
then go into the mod menu, and look for "Smash"
it will be at the bottom of the list until you start installing more mods.

If you did the install incorrectly it will not be listed in the "Mods" menu. So read on...

To install it properly open up your Quake III Arena folder/
then put the "smash" folder in there.... DO NOT put it in the /baseq3/ folder.

Nope 40... you have to be careful with the ""'s... the arguements to the program must be outside them... or windows will look for that whole filename to run...it's ghay.

Yeah, since I was at work, I wasn't sure how I had it set up at home, so that's why I suggested he try BOTH ways. But thanks for clarifying!

And I just wanted to make sure he (she?) knew where in the shortcut to put that line. Took me awhile to figure it out myself but maybe I'm just dense.

Or, we've gotten him so screwed up he'll never play quake again!
