A format has never been a big thing for me, I've backed the essentials that have been stuff like my q3arena.cfg and such.

This time however I need to backup a lot of mails and addresess from Outlook Express, Tillian contacts and a few other documents.

What else would you suggest backing up, I'm using XP if it matters...

Don't forget to back up My Documents. That's always what I forget.

Back your whole documents and settings folder ... or the "Lindi **" (or whatever folder w/ your name) in it.

back up your address book too. If you use OE it will be a *.wab file. If you use Outlook, it will be a *.pst file.

I just have not found the energy to do the reformat. Damn, backingup is such a hassle if you haven't got everything neatly organised to begin with.

That's why I keep a smaller drive installed just for constant backup purposes. I use Second Copy and have it constantly monitor and backup files I do not want to lose or have to replace. Address book, *.dbx mail box files, Favorites, My Documents, and all data related to what bit of work I do from home. These files all backup to my second drive which is all it's used for. Then in the event of OS failure or just wanting to format, I already have everything I need backed up.
