Whats the best way to make sure my windows are sealed tight? I have two windows in my room and as its gotten colder I can feel cool air moving through the bottom of the window from the outside. I am just wondering whats the best way save heat by doing something to these windows. Using some sort of seal? Or something else? Any help is appreciated! My roomate was talking about something like a sheet of plastic you can put over the window and use a hair dryer so it clings to the window and acts as a seal. Edit, also these are crazy old single-pane windows so take that into consideration. [ 11-03-2005: Message edited by: mynameisxanthan ]

single pane windows?christ! I don't have any thing of value to contribute. I sleep with a window open year round usually. -------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.

Heavy plastic (thick ply from home depot/paint drop "cloth" type) taped to window frame with duct tape.3M also has this stuff you can blow dry and the heat will shrink it in place (home depot too) Check the window itself, sills, etc and if its too lose, look into fixing the sill itself or get self adhesive insulation strips and wrap front and bottom of the "bottom" window. Caulk the outside as well and make sure none of the existing stuff is worn or cracking. Dig it out with a flat head, and add new. single pane.. is well a pain and outlawed in most states on new construction since the 80's in the US.

amazingly enough, duct tap does not stick to paint. I discovered this fact while running some cat5 (I couldn't find my cable hangers)-------------------- “I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road.” “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” --Dr. Stephen Hawking.
