I have earthlink and I can't get quake to play or see servers online. I don't get anything online...I am basically offline with quake. I have DSL with earthlink and I use Winpoet to connect to the internet via the DSL. I am able to browse the internet and I am able to Play Unreal Tournament online but I just don't know why Quake III can't work. I am running Windows 2000. And I know it is not the operating system because I play Quake III online at my job using Windows 2000. What do I do? I am lost and very annoyed!

Any error messages or anything? What are you using to find servers, the ingame browser of a thirdparty server browser?

The error message I get is No Response from master server. I use the ingame browser but I have also used third party browsers just to see if I could find any servers. I used pingtool and I did find servers. I click on a server, it launches quake III and it goes straight to the connection screen where it says connecting to( what ever ip address the server is using) and awaiting challenge. It does not connect but sits on that one screen. The awaiting challenge number increases but nothing happens.

Hmmm, that's strange. Try to make sure that the server you are connecting to is running the same version of quake you are running. Also make sure that you have the required mod, if any and that/or that auto download is enabled.
